CAMOUFLAGE

Camouflage is probably one of the most universally recognized patterns.

After brunch one weekend we were looking for places to shoot and I spotted this amazing old gas station that was being converted into this awesome, creative shop.  I discovered later that the shop was owned by this rad woman from my hometown who designs and creates all sorts of amazing hand-made things (jewelry, accessories, handbags, leather goods, and decor) from found/reclaimed materials!!  Very cool stuff!  You can check out her website here: outlawwoman.com

I feel obligated to acknowledge the people who wear this pattern not for fashion, but to protect and serve our country in times of peace and war.  I honor and respect these men and women who serve in camouflage and I’m so grateful for their commitment to protect our freedoms.

This camouflage painting is from a series in 2014 when I was obsessed with textile patterns.  I recently found this cap which perfectly matches the painting so here is my camouflage interpretation.

Wishing you all a wonderful week.

Val's signature in black, followed by a small red kissprint to the right, all against a transparent background.
